2017 Week 1 Game Highlights

Week 1: September 24, 2017

Senior Division:

Majeski Foundation Falcons beat Trattoria Procaccini Saints 38-13.  For the Falcons, Max Majeski scored 2 touchdowns, one by Gabe Majeski, one by Benji Tartar, one by Ryan Friedman, and one more by Jeremy Sallade.  For the Saints, Ryan Cruser had a long rushing touchdown and Aidan Liao added a touchdown reception from Seth Liebowitz for the Saints.

The Lions topped the Jets 30-7 to start off the 2017 season. Peter Knigge got the team off to a quick start with a great interception and run back in the opening minutes of the game. There was no looking back. Will Brandt played outstanding offense scoring 3 TD’s . On both sides of the ball, the Lions looked strong with contributions by all.

The Princeton PBA 130 Broncos topped the Ironshore Giants 16-6 in the opener.  For the Broncos, Carl Birge caught 2 touchdowns and combined with Michio Patafio for a safety.  James Petrone threw both touchdown passes and contributed with an extra point and an interception. Will Renda caught a touchdown thrown by Nico Cucchi.  Marty Brophy ran for some impressive yardage and showed a strong defensive stand getting some key flag grabs.


Junior Division:

The Pure Insurance Steelers defeated the Narragansett Bay Lions 49-7.

For the Steelers,Travis Petrone had four interceptions & four touchdowns. Hayden Kostopolis & Braden Barlag had an interception and a touchdown. Colton Monica also scored a touchdown.

The Lions lone score was a run by Dylan Powers.

The Christine’s Hope Cardinals defeated the Graylin Design Saints 28-14. Corey Woodson scored three times, once off a Teddy Klepacki pass. Jake Winn had a touchdown reception from Jacob Reece. Luke Haan and Micah Brox scored for the Saints.

The Petrone Associate Eagles broke open a close game in the second half with a great running attack led by QB Merritt Long and won 14-7 over the Chubb Insurance Bills.  The Eagles secondary also had 4 picks in the game. Ryan van Roemer kept the game close for the Chubb Insurance Bills with his stellar defense, and Jack Crotty had a long touchdown run.


Rookie Division:


Chase Gallagher had 2 touchdowns, and Noah Prete and Henry Ambra each had 1 touchdown to lead the the University Orthopaedic Falcons team over Ayco 2 28-21. Cooper Casto, Grayson Babich, and Sean Devlin each scored for Ayco 2.

Strong defensive efforts were put forth by both teams in a 0-0 tie between the University Orthopaedic Giants and Ayco 1. George Rieger and John Monica made touchdown saving flag grabs for the Giants after long completions to Liam McCloskey and Ian Brito on Ayco 1.
